We checked in with Maplewood Market today, a day after we alerted the township that the market had reopened without a license.
The market was closed, but owner Aiman Abujudeh was out front working with an architect on its future.
He declined to be interviewed on camera, but said off-camera that township officials had inspected the place Friday, but said he could not reopen until the full Board of Health, the Township Committee, reviewed the matter at its Jan. 18 meeting.
The TC on Tuesday rejected a request for a new operating license.
He also said he would go before a Superior Court judge on Monday to seek lifting of a restraining order against him by the township.
The township ordered the market closed in October after numerous health code violations.
